Build the days around what matters
A bay of many hundreds of limestone islands and pinnacles rising from green water in the Gulf of Tonkin. Most visitors take an overnight cruise from Ha Long or Lan Ha, kayaking between the karsts, walking through show caves such as Sung Sot, and stopping at floating fishing settlements.

The river landscape south of Ho Chi Minh City is visited for canals, agricultural communities and water-based local movement. Choose a focused excursion rather than claiming to cover the entire delta in one day.

Getting there from India
Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City are the principal gateways, with Da Nang useful for central Vietnam. Flights from India may be direct from selected metros or one-stop.
There is no practical through passenger rail journey from India. Vietnam's domestic railway can link parts of a longer north-south itinerary.
Overland travel from India is not a normal tourist route. Domestic flights and trains reduce long sectors; local road transfers cover the final connections.
